Musical Monday is Back!

I'm sure you've been wondering to yourself, I wonder what music is tickling Erica's fancy these day? And why won't that bitch post on her blog from time to time?"

Well, I haven't posted lately for the usual reasons: I'm busy, I'm stressed out, I'm lazy, I have too much to say, I have nothing to say. Etc. And also, the dark of winter is descending and it's getting colder and all I want to do is curl up in a fetal ball and carbo-load. But I'm trying to rally.

So the other night I was listening to Jonny's iPod, plugged into the stereo, and caught a few bits of a song that really grabbed me. I checked out the artist and song name and asked him about them later. He told me that they were the new alternative rock phenom (or were last year - we're sort of like colonists in that we get our cultural news about a year late - I blame the children) and noted, somewhat apologetically, "They're kind of electronic." Which I hadn't really noticed, but which I also surely don't mind. (Exhbit A: my recent affection for two songs by Annie Lennox/the Eurythmics.)

This song has been on heavy rotation on my beloved Sansa Clip for the last 48 hours. In fact, I listened to it on repeat all the way to work this morning. I know most of the lyrics by heart now, although I don't know if I understand them, exactly. The video is compelling, too, but doesn't really clarify anything.
